“WATCH THE WINDOW”
During the month of March 2007, Investigator Brian Lee and Sgt. Paul Gautier of the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office Narcotics Task Force, along with officers from the Atlantic City, Northfield, Mullica and Egg Harbor Township Police departments conducted an investigation into the cocaine distribution being conducted from the Red Carpet Inn, located on the Black Horse Pike.
During the investigation, an undercover operative bought cocaine from Gregory Rhoads, a resident of the motel, four times. Three of the four times William Medley, another Red Carpet Inn resident, and Aqueelah Evans supplied the cocaine that Rhoads sold.
On the morning of March 29, 2007, as officers conducted simultaneous raids in the rooms rented by both Rhoads and Medley, Medley allegedly punched out a screen and threw a sock with 145 grams of cocaine, or just more than 5 ounces, out the window.
In addition to the drugs, investigators seized $470 from Evans along with drug paraphernalia.
Both Medley and Evans were charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute more than five ounces of cocaine. They also are charged with possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of Atlantic City High School.
Rhoads is charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute less than a half-ounce of cocaine and possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school.
The NJNEOA commends Sgt. Paul Gautier, Investigator Brian Lee and the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office Narcotics Task Force, along with officers from the Atlantic City, Northfield, Mullica and Egg Harbor Township Police departments on their perseverance and dedication in the enforcement of the state’s narcotic statutes.
