“NJSP KEEPING BUSY”
The New Jersey State Police Drug Trafficking North Unit, located in West Paterson started the year off with a bang. During the last week of January, officers from the unit seized in excess of one million dollars worth of heroin.
As part of an ongoing covert operation, on January 27, 2007 NJSP officers from the Newark Station conducted a motor vehicle stop on the turnpike of a vehicle destined for Atlantic City. The driver of the vehicle, an individual from the Bronx working for a Dominican heroin trafficking group, was arrested and charged for having in his possession six hundred fifty (650) bricks of heroin, all of which were found secreted in a concealed compartment of the van he was operating. The packets were each stamped with the logo “Powerhouse.”
Then on January 30th another compartmentalized van was stopped by the NJSP. This time seven hundred ten (710) bricks of heroin were seized from the hidden compartment and the driver was also arrested and charged for having the heroin in his possession. He too was employed by a Dominican heroin trafficking group in the Bronx. This quantity of heroin was stamped with the logo “Color of money” and earmarked for the Newark area.
The NJNEOA commends the New Jersey State Police Drug Trafficking North Unit in West Paterson for their extensive and tireless efforts in attempting to keep the cities of New Jersey drug free.
