“SPECIAL DELIVERY”
On January 3rd, 2007 Mark Ferguson, age 41, of Grand Street in Hoboken received a surprise. He had been awaiting a delivery from his drug supplier in California, but instead of the mailman it was the police that paid him a visit.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department had notified Hoboken Police that a marijuana dealer that they had recently arrested was mailing bags of marijuana to Ferguson at his Grand Street residence.
Ferguson had been brought to police headquarters where he confessed to receiving the marijuana deliveries. Police then searched his apartment where they found boxes and bags of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia with traces of the drug, including glass and metal pipes, a bong, rolling papers and a scale. Also seized was a marble tray and plastic bag with cocaine residue, and $5,620 which is believed to be proceeds from drug sales. $5,000 of that money was found in a safe in Ferguson's bedroom.
Ferguson was subsequently charged with two counts of possession of suspected marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of paraphernalia.
The NJNEOA commends both the Hoboken Police Department and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department on their spirit of cooperation in drug enforcement.
