“TRAFFIC”

On March 1, 2006 officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department broke up a drug lab operating from a residence in Newark.

Just around 5:00pm officers observed Juan Sanchez exit his Sixth Avenue apartment and hand a plastic bag to Samuel Jimenez. When the arresting officers approached, they found the bag to contain 21 decks of heroin stamped “Traffic” and seven vials of crack.

Officers then executed search warrants upon two apartments controlled by Sanchez from which were seized: a total of 273 grams of crack cocaine, 35 grams of heroin, scales, cutting agents, face masks and a rubber stamp utilized to mark the product.

Sanchez, Jimenez and Sanchez’ wife Milca Irrizarry were charged with: possession, distribution, conspiracy and maintenance of a drug production facility.

Edwin Rodriguez, who was found inside one of the apartments attempting to flush drugs down the toilet as the officers entered, was charged with possession and hindering apprehension.

The New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association congratulates both the Essex County Sheriff’s Department on another fine job.
