“OPERATION DOUBLE DEUCE”

A five-month narcotic investigation conducted by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office that began in September of 2005, culminated with the arrest of 33 individuals charged with both drug and weapons offenses.

In September police began receiving information that a Plainfield resident identified as Dwayne Austin was operating a cocaine distribution network along the Route 22 corridor. Austin and another distributor, Damon “Beast” Williams, were taking care of customers throughout the Watchung, Green Brook and Plainfield area of the highway. All their sales occurred either outside or in vehicles.

During the course of the investigation, an undercover officer from the Prosecutor’s Office had purchased a total of one ounce of cocaine during four different occasions from Austin. .

The investigation resulted in the arrest of 33 individuals, along with the execution of search warrants at 5 locations and 4 motor vehicles. Seized were over three pounds of cocaine, a quantity of marijuana, a firearm and narcotic packaging material.
