In mid-September 2005, officers from the Linden Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force arrested two men on drug charges as part of an initiative known as the Union County Save a Neighborhood Task Force Operation.
The arrests were made pursuant to observations made by officers conducting surveillance on St. Georges Avenue.
Authorities stated that at @4:00 pm, Jason Tarell Williams, 19, was arrested and found to be in possession of 12 bags of cocaine having a street value of $300.00.
Williams was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park. His bail was set at $13,000.
At @7:00 pm police arrested Dwayne Arthur Thompson, 42, of Roselle Street after finding him to have 5 bags of crack cocaine, worth $50, in his possession, authorities said.
Thompson was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school. His bail was set at $22,000.
