"TAKING TIPS SERIOUSLY"

On October 14, 2004, Detective Sergeant Jack Mullin, commander of the Bayshore Task Force, received information about a drug transaction that was scheduled to take place near a motel located on Route 36.

Pursuant to this tip, officers conducted a surveillance of the location and waited for the vehicle described by the tipster to arrive. Shortly thereafter a vehicle matching the description arrived being driven by John Puglisi. Mullins, Cpl. Maryann Smith and Officer Kevin Geoghan stopped the vehicle, and along with canine Memphis, conducted a search of the vehicle. Seized from the vehicle were of 48 bags of heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Puglisi, a 46-year old Keansburg resident, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession with the intent to distribute. He was then held at the Monmouth County Jail, Freehold Township in lieu of $50,000 bail.
