"PERSERVERANCE!"
Beginning in March 2004, members of the Woodbridge Police Department’s Narcotics unit began receiving information about an individual who was distributing crack cocaine from his Avenel residence. Richard Sloben and his girlfriend Cheryl McClintic were allegedly selling cocaine from their home, several local bars and a 7-11 convenience store.
Officers assigned to the Narcotics unit began conducting periodic surveillances of Sloben’s home. It was one evening in June when the officers arrested an individual who had just left Sloben’s home from where he had purchased crack cocaine. Other investigative methods were then utilized to gather further evidence of Sloben’s illegal drug activity that was being conducted from the Avenel residence.
It was on July 2nd when the Narcotics unit executed a search warrant at Sloben’s residence. The officers seized: 84 grams of crack cocaine, an additional 16 grams of powder cocaine, $2,274 in cash, assorted narcotic paraphernalia and packaging material, and a quantity of marijuana. Both Sloben and McClintic were arrested and charged with numerous drug offenses. Bails were set in the amount of $20,000 with a no 10% option.
The NJNEOA commends the officers of the Woodbridge Police Department’s Narcotics unit on another outstanding investigation. Once again it shows how Woodbridge’s perseverance and dedication to narcotics enforcement culminates with success.
