"The Dangers of Narcotics Work."
Two officers assigned to the Bayshore Narcotics Task Force were injured as they tried to arrest three men accused of heroin distribution on April 16, 2004.
Members of the Bayshore Narcotics Task Force and Middletown Police Department conducted the two-week long narcotics investigation. The officers determined that the suspects planned to deliver "large amounts" of heroin from Long Branch to Middletown. The decision was made to conduct a "Buy/Bust" in the East Point Plaza on Route 36, which resulted in the seizure of 150 bags of heroin, $2,000 in cash and a car.
Arrested were the following individuals:
Greg Curry, 24, of Central Place Long Branch - charged with possession,
possession w/intent, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Anthony Cattouse, 23, Miller Street Highlands and Dashaum A. Gillis, 24, Garfield Court Long Branch - both charged
with conspiracy to distribute and eluding.
An unidentified "Good Samaritan" who observed the drug bust taking place positioned his car to block one of the fleeing suspects. He said "Just trying to help." and left before the officers were able to identify and thank him.
The NJNEOA thanks the Bayshore Narcotics Task Force and Middletown Police Department for their efforts in attempting to keep the Bayshore area "Drug Free" with out regard for their own safety.>
