"The Success of Surveillance"
In December of 2003, the Linden Police Department’s Narcotics Bureau initiated an investigation into the distribution of both heroin and cocaine in the City of Linden. The target of the investigation was a resident of Elizabeth, New Jersey identified as Rasheed Young.
On February 5, 2004 officers conducted a surveillance of Young’s movements for the day. He was being followed enroute to deliver a quantity of drugs to a customer waiting for him at the Linden Airport Plaza on Routes 1 & 9. The decision was made to stop Young and he was subsequently arrested after attempting to flee from narcotics detectives. Young had in his possession a quantity of heroin and cocaine that was packaged for distribution and delivery.
A subsequent search of Young’s residence in Elizabeth yielded an additional two ounces of cocaine, 261 packets of heroin, and packaging materials. Also recovered was a fully loaded AK-47 assault rifle with a 30 round magazine and a fully loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Young was charged with a variety of CDS and Weapons offenses.
The NJNEOA congratulates the members of the Linden Narcotics Bureau for their hard work and dedication to keeping the City of Linden drug free.
