"IT'S SAFER IN MORRIS COUNTY - NOT!!!"

On February 8, 2003, based upon information gleaned from an ongoing joint long-term investigation, members of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Tactical Narcotic Team, the New York City Police Department's Manhattan North Major Case Squad, Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York and the Madison Borough Police Department conducted several motor vehicle stops, as well as executed a Superior Court authorized search warrant upon a residence located in Madison, New Jersey. The motor vehicle stops and search warrant resulted in the arrest of five individuals, along with the seizure of six hundred seventy-five kilograms of cocaine and ten thousand dollars.

The investigation revealed that the individuals involved were part of a Mexican International Drug Organization that imported kilograms of cocaine into the United States, concealed within white colored buckets that contained fruit preserves. The buckets of cocaine were stored at the Madison residence until other individuals working for the distribution network would pick them up to bring to New York.

The NJNEOA congratulates the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Tactical Narcotic Team, the Madison Borough Police Department, along with the other New York Law Enforcement agencies on a job well done in helping to dismantle a major drug distribution network operating in both New Jersey and New York.
